The proper hepatic artery supplies oxygenated blood to the liver. Follow this artery superiorly as it divides into the right hepatic artery and the left hepatic artery. Now, trace the proper hepatic artery inferiorly to its origin from the common hepatic artery. The common hepatic artery is one of three major branches of the celiac trunk.
