Anterior to the anus, identify the point at which the bulbospongiosus muscle, superficial transverse perineal muscle, and external anal sphincter muscle join together to form the common tendon, called the central tendon of the perineum, or perineal body.Identify and reflect the ischiocavernosus muscle to expose the crus of the penis. Cut and reflect the bulbospongiosus muscle to expose the bulb of the penis. Detach the bulb of the penis from the inferior fascia of the urogenital diaphragm . Free also the crura of the penis from their attachments to the ischiopubic rami . Now, reflect the bulb and crura of the penis anteriorly to expose the urogenital diaphragm.
