From an anterior perspective of the neck, identify the following structures (Figure 32.4):
During an emergency, when air is blocked from passing through the larynx, the cricothyroid membrane can be located and opened to establish a temporary airway. Note that the cricoid cartilage [lateral view] has a greater height posteriorly than anteriorly.
