Within the outer layer of the dura mater, identify the branches of the left middle meningeal artery and the right middle meningeal artery which supply blood to the dura mater and cranial bones. Confirm that the impressions from these vessels can be seen on the internal surface of the calvaria.

Next, identify the arachnoid granulations and the Sharpey's fibers on the surface of the dura mater. Sharpey's fibers secure the dura mater to the calvaria.
