A Stryker saw or bone chisel can be used to remove the anterior aspect of the capsule, clavicle, manubrium, and first costal cartilage in order to study the internal aspects of the sternoclavicular joint. An articular disk is located between the articular surface of the clavicular notch of the manubrium and the sternal end of the clavicle. The articular disk divides the joint cavity into two compartments or spaces. (Higher magnification of the articular disk [without probe] [indicated by probe]).
