Carefully detach the palmaris brevis muscle from the hypothenar muscles and reflect it medially. Then remove the palmar aponeurosis in order to examine the nerves and blood vessels deep to it. Because the fibers of the aponeurosis attach to the underlying deep fascia, this may be somewhat difficult to do. Care must be taken not to cut underlying blood vessels and nerves..
