With the body in the supine position, remove the skin of the arm and forearm . Make an anterior skin incision and reflect the skin flaps either medially or laterally. Leave the underlying superficial fascia. Be careful not to cut too deeply and thereby sever superficial nerves and veins. The skin reflections should be completed distally to the wrist, since some tendons of muscles and nerves in the forearm enter the wrist.
